Aesthetic Management of the "What the hell?" Anterior Implant Case
Moderator:
It is widely accepted that dental implants are the standard of care in treating patients with edentulous sites. Most individuals in our practices are generally well informed of implant supported crowns & bridges as a rehabilitation option when they are missing one or more teeth. With this surge in implant popularity, the expectations have been redefined, and now include highly cosmetic goals. To achieve such outcomes, requires a deep knowledge of techniques, materials and physiology. This lecture will focus on several important factors we need to identify in the treatment planning stages, along with techniques and methods that will allow us to enhance the odds for aesthetic results. A plethora of cases will be presented to outline the challenges we face in the anterior aesthetic zone, and how to plan around them. Emphasis will also be given to the critical role of pre-treatment and post-treatment patient management & communication.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify high and low risk cases for a cosmetic result
2. Learn to analyze anatomic landmarks and patient specific data, that
lead to realistic outcome expectations.
3. Review the potential and limitations of soft tissue and bone grafting for
future implant sites.
4. Grasp the magnitude of patient cooperation in short- and long-term
outcomes.

The Use of Lasers in the Management of Periodontitis and Peri-Implant Diseases
Moderator:
Severe periodontal defects and peri-implant defects can be challenging to manage. Treatment may include surgical and nonsurgical approaches, either individually or combined. Various combinations and sequences of laser devices can be utilized to manage these complex cases. I will review the possible utilisation of photodynamic therapy and/or Er:YAG lasers in the management of such cases.
Learning Objectives:
1. Recognize, assess, and develop treatment and preventative strategies for severe periodontal and peri-implant defects.
2. Understand the basic principles of photodynamic therapy and Er:YAG lasers
3. Have a better understanding of the advantages of laser therapy in the treatment of advanced defects.
